Shane Hunter is a senior on the Nova Southeastern University men's basketball team. Hunter was a huge part of the undefeated 2023 national championship team and is looking to claim two in a row this season.
The Sharks are currently 23-2 this season, and they recently became 3x Sunshine State Conference regular-season champions. Hunter has been named SSC Player of the Week twice and SSC Defensive Player of the Week once.
The 6-foot-10 forward has started every game this season and has totaled 421 points, 180 rebounds, and 50 blocks so far. He is having his most convincing season yet, as Hunter took advantage of the NCAA awarding athletes an extra season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nova Southeastern is the number one rated Division II team in the country right now. The Sharks won their first national title last season and are looking as dangerous as ever. They have the second-best scoring offense in Division II, averaging 102.9 points per game, third-highest bench points per game with 41.83, and rebounds per game with 43.08. They also have the most forced turnovers per game, averaging 24.04.
The Sharks play their next game tomorrow, March 2nd against Saint Leo University, who they already beat by a whopping 42 points. The Sunshine State Conference Tournament begins on Tuesday, March 5th, with Nova Southeastern looking like the heavy favorites to win it all. Watch out for Shane Hunter and the Sharks in the post-season!
