Jordy Bahl just finished her sophomore year at the University of Oklahoma. She has only pitched for two years at the college level, but Bahl has already made a huge mark in NCAA softball. As a freshman, Bahl earned honors such as NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year, NFCA First Team All-American, first-team All-Big 12, and Big 12 Co-Pitcher of the Year. This year, Bahl received WCWS Most Outstanding Player, NFCA First Team All-American, Big 12 Pitcher of the Year, ESPY Nominee for Best College Athlete, and more. I'm not sure if there even are any other awards that Jordy Bahl could win.
Last month, Jordy Bahl announced that she would be transferring to the University of Nebraska. Bahl is from Papillon Nebraska, which is only about an hour from the University of Nebraska's campus. Bahl had originally committed to the University of Nebraska during her freshman year of high school but ended up committing and signing to Oklahoma later on. Nebraska has never won a College World Series, unlike Oklahoma, who has won 7 times and just won a third consecutive championship this year. Nebraska will certainly be thrilled to have a player like Jordy Bahl on their team.
Bahl grew up in a family that has always been big Nebraska fans. In a press conference after joining the University of Nebraska, Bahl stated “Home has always been super important to me. So even when I went down to OU, it was hard because I never wanted to leave home. This place and these people mean so much to me.” All of Bahl's family is still in Nebraska, which was a big factor in her decision. Hopefully, for Bahl, she will find comfort in playing for home crowds, and she will be able to help turn the Nebraska softball program around.
