Yurii Kosian is a Division III senior swimmer at Kenyon College from Odesa, Ukraine. He swims the backstroke and the freestyle. Kosian has collected 11 All-American titles in his two seasons competing and is looking promising for this 2024 season.
Kosian competed in six events at the 2023 NCAA Championship Meet. He won the 400-meter relay, came third in the 200-meter relay, fifth in the 200-meter freestyle and backstroke, sixth in the 800-meter freestyle relay, and ninth in the 100-meter backstroke.
Competing in six different events is extremely impressive, but placing in the top ten in every event is incredible.
This season, Kosian leads Kenyon in the 50, 100, 200 back, and the 200 freestyle. The Owls have competed in seven meets so far, and Yurii Kosian has yet to lose a 100 backstroke race or finish beyond the top 10 in any individual event.
Kenyon's next meet is tomorrow, January 20th at Miami University (OH). The Owls have an incredibly strong team this year, and they will be looking to claim their 35th national title. Kenyon College has a huge history of winning in the sport of men's swimming. Between 1980 and 2015, Kenyon won 31 championships in a row.
The Owls have not won since 2015, but they were the 2023 runner-ups, and they are surely looking to take it all home this year.
