NCAA women's soccer conferences have become more and more competitive in recent years. Unlikely teams are coming into the spotlight and upsets are becoming increasingly common. Nevertheless, there are still some dominant soccer conferences in the women's game that tend to win more often than others.

1. Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC)

The ACC has been a dominant force since the very beginning. The ACC has won a jaw-dropping 29 NCAA Championships out of 42 tournaments. At the 2023 College Cup, five ACC teams made the NCAA tournament including Florida State (eventual winner), North Carolina, Clemson, Notre Dame, and Pittsburgh.

The University of North Carolina is known for its dominance in college women's soccer, as they have won 21 NCAA Championships. Florida State University and Notre Dame are two other top teams in the conference. Professional soccer players like Mia Hamm, Alessia Russo, and Tobin Heath played in the ACC in their college days.

2. Pac-12

This is the last year of the Pac-12 Conference, but the Pac-12 has been notoriously successful in women's soccer. The Pac-12 has won 7 of the last 42 NCAA Championships. This competitive conference has been a force for many years. In the 2023 College Cup, four Pac-12 teams received bids to the tournament including Stanford, Arizona State, Southern California, and Colorado.

Stanford, UCLA, and the University of Southern California are some of the giants in the Pac-12. Star players like Sophia Smith, Sam Mewis, and Christian Press all played in the Pac-12 before going pro. 

3. Big 12

The Big 12 Conference doesn't have as intense competition as the ACC or Pac-12, but the conference is definitely on the up. The Big 12 doesn't have any national champions yet, but they have had a few teams make it to the championship and had great performances in recent years.

At the 2023 College Cup, BYU made it to the championship this year, the University of Texas-Austin made it to the third round, and Texas Tech made it to the second round. Ashley Hatch, Estelle Johnson, and Addisyn Merrick all played in the Big 12 and made it to the professional level.

4. Big Ten

Similarly to the Big 12, the Big Ten Conference doesn't have quite as much competition as the ACC or the Pac-12. However, with growing competition, the Big 12 is becoming more successful. The Big Ten won 1 NCAA Championship when Penn State beat Duke in 2015. At this year's College Cup, the Big Ten had a huge showing. Penn State, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Rutgers, Iowa, Nebraska, and Wisconsin all made it to the tournament.

Famous professional soccer players like Rose Lavelle, Carli Lloyd, and Alyssa Naeher all played in the Big Ten!
