Lindesy Lutz is in the 14th year of her coaching career with the Shenandoah University Hornets women's lacrosse team, and she's seen a lot in that timeframe. Not only did Shenandoah switch from NAIA to DIII during her tenure, but she's coached through COVID and earned several Coach of the Year honors in the process. Here's how you can take a page from Coach Lutz's book and role with the punches during your recruiting process.
What are your expectations for incoming players in the classroom, in the weight room, and on the field?
Do their best in all three of those areas. Push themselves to the best of their ability. Be proactive in all three of those areas to ensure success.
What is the best advice you can offer a recruit?
Honesty, the athlete [should be] involved in the process, not just the parents, explore all of a university before making a decision.

What really jumps out to you when reviewing a recruit's highlight tape?
Hustle and speed.
What are your tips for a recruit's highlight tape?
Show some mistakes, make sure the game is competitive, and show all aspects of the game.

When do you recommend recruits put together and share their highlight reels? Is it best to make their highlight reel during the offseason, in the middle of season, or after each game?
All of the options work! No specific time.
What advice do you have for recruits who get turned down by their dream schools? What are their options if they don't gain the recruiting attention they desire?
Have back up options, be realistic with your goals, be honest throughout the process with yourself.
How big a factor is social media when recruiting players? What advice do you have for athletes regarding social media?
Keep it clean–make sure there is nothing on your social media page you wouldn't want your future coach to see.
