Mathias Nevin just finished his freshman year at the University of Hartford. At Hartford, he runs both cross country and track and field. He is a business and marketing major and is a part of the Student Athletic Leadership! Despite their track being under construction, the Hartford runners still manage to get work done. Nevin went through what a busy day in his life was like as a freshman runner with us!
5:15am: Wake Up!
We get an early start for practice everyday. I will eat a granola bar, banana, and drink some pickle juice to help with cramps.
5:45am: Start Warmups
We start our warmups outside the school by doing lunge variations to make sure we're ready for the big workout.
6:00am: Run to the High School Track
Because our track is under construction, we run 3 miles every day to get to a track we can use.

6:30am: Full Warmup
Once we get to the track, we start the real warmup.
6:45am: Start Workout!
Tuesday's are our hard days, so the usual workout would be something like 7x 1000m runs.
7:30am: Head Back
We have to be off the track at this time, so we run the 3 miles back to the University of Hartford.
8am: Eat breakfast!
We always eat breakfast as a team in the dining hall. I usually have an omelet and a bagel with breakfast potatoes.
9am: Nap time!
11:45am: Professional Writing Class
This class is a requirement for my business and marketing major. We learn how to write things like memos, emails, and resumes.
12:55pm: Business Data Analytics Class
This statistics class is another class for my major.
2pm: Lift
Tuesday lifts are usually made up of things like front squats, RDLs, jump squats and TRX rows.
2:45pm: Late Lunch
Head to the dining hall for a late lunch. I almost always get pasta before the station closes at 3pm.
3:30pm: Downtime
This is the time I use to catch up on work or just hang out.
5pm: Challenges of Globalization Class
This is one of my college requirements; here we learn about how globalization and the spread of technology has affected the world.

7:30: Dinner
A sandwich and cereal are my go-tos.
8pm: Study Hall
Everyone on the team has to complete 6 hours of study hall time a week. I usually go in for an hour or two to study each night.
11pm: Head to bed!
