Daily Grind: DI Golfer Viveka Kurup Daily Grind: DI Golfer Viveka Kurup

Viveka Kurup just finished her sophomore year as a golfer at Bucknell University. Not only is she a , but she is also a Computer Science major which means her days are extremely busy. Viveka's days are filled with lifts with her team, tough classes, long practices, and tutoring. Here is what a of a golfer looks like!

6:30 am: Wake-up 

Viveka and her team get an early start to the day to be on time for their team lift.

7:00 am: Lift 

Bucknell has a full-team lift where they alternate between cardio and weight-lifting days. 

8:00 am: Class #1

Viveka's first class of the day is Statistics and Probability for Engineers.

9:00 am: Class #2 

Her second class of the day is Software Engineering and Design, which is a third-level computer science course. 

10:00 am: Snack

Viveka doesn't have time for , so at this time she usually eats a protein bar and continues working.

12:00 pm: Lunch 

Viveka will eat lunch with her friends at their cafeteria. She is a big fan of the vegan sauté station which has quinoa and vegetables!

1:00 pm: Library

At this time, Viveka will go to the library before her next class and grab a coffee for some energy. 

2:00 pm: Class #3

Her third class of the day is Digital Humanities 100. This class isn't a major required course, but one that filled some credits required to graduate and piqued her interest. 

3:00 pm: Downtime

Viveka has some downtime until practice, so she will run to her room and change for practice and eat a snack.

4:00 pm: Practice with her team! 

Her practices will usually last for two hours. As a college golfer, Viveka divides her practice into 40 minutes of chipping, pitching, and bunker practice, 40 minutes of range work, which is hitting clubs from pitching wedge-driver, and 40 minutes of putting drills. Some days her coach requires the team to go play the course which is 10 minutes of warm-up on the range and then they will play 9 holes. 

6:00 pm: Dinner

Viveka and her team will finish up practice and head to dinner. Usually, they will head to the cafeteria again, but sometimes they will go to the Commons, another dining option on campus offering more variety like salads.

7:00 pm: Shower/relax

Viveka will take a shower and relax for a little bit before starting work. She usually attends computer science tutoring sessions where she leads a study group for people taking the intro-level computer science course. They usually meet and discuss the weekly problem sets that are due and she assists where she can. This usually ends at 9 pm. 

7:45 pm: Homework 

On days when she doesn't have a study group, she will start homework. She will usually try to find time to do her homework in between those gaps in the day, so whatever she has left, she usually does it now or gets ahead for the week! 

10:00 pm: Hangout with friends/relax

Usually, by this point, she is done with work and will either hang out with friends or just lay in bed and get ready to sleep. 

11:00 pm: Sleep time!
