I have really enjoyed my time playing for coach Burstein. You can tell he puts a lot of time into his job and his knowledge of the game is great. Despite his coaching ability and passion for coaching, he isn’t a great motivator. Once he has established his starters, it’s hard to get on the field which makes it hard to stay motivated. Then he expects you to be fit. Hard to be fit when you don’t play.

I have really enjoyed my time playing for coach Burstein. You can tell he puts a lot of time into his job and his knowledge of the game is great. Despite his coaching ability and passion for coaching, he isn’t a great motivator. Once he has established his starters, it’s hard to get on the field which makes it hard to stay motivated. Then he expects you to be fit. Hard to be fit when you don’t play.

I am an alumna of Rutgers-Newark (2004-2005) and played for coach Burstein during his brief spell at RUN. He took over a failing program with deep issues and brought us immediate success. His ability to adapt was out of this world and his knowledge and understanding of how to instruct the players was something special. We were all devastated when he left, but deep down we all knew he had the talent to coach at a much higher level. He is the best coach I have ever played for and I am forever grateful for what he taught me and our team. Not surprised to see all his success at Kutztown. He is exceptional on so many levels!

I played for coach Burstein during his first two years at KU (2007-2008) and have been following the team since. There is no surprise to see KU having tremendous success under his guidance because coach is exceptional. He came to KU at a time the program was a mess. He had a clear vision for what he wanted to achieve and how he was going to get there. He had a plan for all the players and he had clear expectations. He also held everyone accountable. His knowledge of the game and his ability to adapt game plans to help the team is incredible. He always found ways for our team to be successful and he cared deeply about the program from day one. Kutztown soccer is where it is today because of coach and I am proud to say I was a Golden Bear. Just wish he had coached the team all four years of my career there.

Coach Burstein has a very clear vision for how he wants the team to play and the program to operate. At first I was sick of hearing about the details, standards, expectations and I really struggled with accountability. Details, details, details! Everything with this coach is about details. You are taught your role within the formation, you are given all the coaching you need to be able to execute this role and the environment you are in everyday is competitive and intense. Every player on the team is capable of performing at very high levels. The competition for playing time is intense every year. You have to focus in training, you have to be fit, you have to work hard, you have to know and understand your role and be able to execute at a very high level if you expect to play. This program is very challenging and coach has very high standards and expectations. If you are not willing to do the work and you are not looking to be challenged This is not the program for you. For the right athlete this is an awesome program where you will be pushed, you will have to work hard and you’ll grow incredibly over your time here.

You are taught your role within the formation, you are given all the coaching you need to be able to execute this role and the environment you are in everyday is competitive and intense. Every player on the team is capable of performing at very high levels. The competition for playing time is intense every year. You have to focus in training, you have to be fit, you have to work hard, you have to know and understand your role and be able to execute at a very high level if you expect to play. This program is very challenging and coach has very high standards and expectations. If you are not willing to do the work and you are not looking to be challenged This is not the program for you. For the right athlete this is an awesome program where you will be pushed, you will have to work hard and you’ll grow incredibly over your time here.

Very good Women’s soccer program! Extremely well run, but incredibly challenging. Coach Burstein is easily one of the best coaches I have played for. Extremely knowledgeable and beyond prepared. Standards and expectations are very high, so if you go to KU, be prepared to be challenged and be prepared to work. Coach is passionate and deeply cares for the program, its success and the players on the team. He will hold you accountable to the standards that are set, which some people may not like. Hardest part for me, realizing that my teammates were just as good, if not better, then I was. I had always been the best player on my club team and high school team. Got to KU, I was not longer the best. Super hard to deal with, but I managed and I never regret the decision to play at KU. Overall amazing experience. Learned a ton, developed into better player and person, made life long friends.

This coach runs a tight ship for sure with a dash of Obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD) to top everything off. This coach has soccer knowledge however he is always chasing the next thing. No consistency and that works to his disadvantage but players suffer the most. Anytime a coach recruits 19 in one class it should tell you something. Laziness in recruiting is apparent with large recruiting classes and tends to lead to players being played in positions that they were not recruited for. Mind games are present for sure with this program.
