The NIT is a men's basketball tournament hosted by the NCAA. Regular champions who are not selected to play in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament automatically receive a tournament bid. Other teams are selected by a committee. Seton Hall received a number-one seed in the tournament and has since won three games to make it to the Final Four.

Kadary Richmond was named first-team All- while averaging 15.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game. Richmond originally played for Syracuse University for one year before transferring to Seton Hall. He has since been a crucial player for the Pirates in his last three seasons.
