Elyce Knudsen is a senior guard on the women's basketball team at Millikin University. Last season, Knudsen was awarded the Jostens Trophy, which goes to the best Division III male and female basketball players. Now, as a senior, Knudsen has a lot on her shoulders, but she is already living up to the expectations.
Knudsen tops the NCAA stats in more than one area. She leads the country in points per game (27.9), is second in points (279), fifth in free throw percentage (93.33), and 18th in three-point percentage (47.17). Millikin isn't even halfway through their season, and Knudsen is already racking up the points.
Elyce Knudsen has been a valuable part of the Millikin basketball team since the beginning, as she has started in every single game that she has played in. As a freshman, she was named D3hoops.com Central Region Rookie of the Year, was a CCIW All-Conference first-team selection, and the CCIW Newcomer of the Year with 241 points in 13 games.
As a sophomore, Knudsen was a D3hoops.com and WBCA All-American, CCIW Player of the Year, and CCIW All-Conference first-team with 623 points and averaging 20.8 points per game. She was selected as a first-team All-American her junior year, along with first-team CSC Academic All-America, CCIW Player of the Year, and the Jostens Trophy. She scored 647 points, averaging 22.3 points a game that year.
Elyce Knudsen has been able to keep her position as one of the best in Division III, while also maintaining a near-perfect GPA which is not an easy feat.
Knudsen and the Big Blue still have at least 14 games left! You can catch them in their next game against Central College on December 31st at 12:00 pm.
