The recruiting process can take a toll on any student-athlete, even the best athletes. It is a long and stressful process that athletes undergo when interested in continuing their athletic career at the collegiate level, and it can cause a lot of both mental and physical stress.
The long and grueling process usually starts halfway through an athlete's high school career and doesn't end until they are committed to a college. However, does this mean you should stop giving you 100% after signing that NLI? No, you should not stop giving your 100% after you commit, and I'm here to tell you why.

It is always key to show your dedication to your team and your potential to recruiters from the start. It all starts with reaching out first and often. Having a good first impression is also very vital for your recruiting process. However, once you make a good impression, you don't want to put in less effort and have the team you committed to think you aren't as dedicated as you were when they were recruiting you.

It is not often that an athlete will get comfortable once recruited and stop trying to be the most outstanding student and athlete, but there is always a possibility. Whether you are already recruited or in the recruiting process, it is essential to show your full potential at all times. This will not only help your team, but it will help your coach see what kind of athlete you are and help you show your commitment.
It is fair to say that the recruiting process is a stressful one, but that is not an excuse to relax after achieving your goal. When recruited, you are making a commitment to yourself, the coach, your teammates, the school, and everyone else involved. In addition, coaches hold expectations over prospective athletes, and it's not good to not meet such expectations. You should not only meet, but exceed those expectations as it will help you with where you stand on the team.

Another reason to keep giving your 100% is that you may get comfortable. Getting comfortable is a sign of not having something that challenges or motivates you. If that is the case, then you are at the wrong place. Your dream school and team should motivate you every day to become better. If not, you're at the wrong place! There is nothing wrong with that, it would just push you to find a place that is a better fit for you.
