Katie* was so excited because she had played really well with her club team at showcases, and in the winter of her senior year, she committed to play soccer at a college. The coach had been really interested in her and their communication together had been really promising. At practice the next day, Katie excitedly told her whole club team that she had committed to a school, and they were all super happy for her!
This news was all so thrilling for Katie, as she was nervous that she wouldn't end up finding the right school for her. Everything seemed to work out perfectly until she got an email from the school in early April. The school had sent out an email to all students and faculty, announcing that the college was closing down. Hearing that her school closed was such a shock, as Katie did not get any warning. This obviously was extremely last minute for Katie, as the commitment day for all students is May 1st. This news came as a real shock and Katie realized that if she wanted to play soccer in college, she would have to figure everything out very quickly. Luckily, Katie had some coaches who she had been in contact with before she committed to her first school who were very understanding about how her school closed. Katie was able to commit to another school just in time for the deadline. Katie was super happy that she was able to figure everything out, although she was still sad that she was not able to go to her original first choice. The coach of the old school ended up sending all the uniforms and gear to the players. Even though Katie didn't have a real connection to the school or the uniforms, she was glad to have something that reminded her of where she almost went.
