Come back every Tuesday for Recruiting Horror Stories™, athletes' first-hand stories on what can go wrong during the recruiting process.
Remy had just arrived on campus for her official recruiting trip, and after a long day of traveling, she and a few other recruits were welcomed by a cold and rainy campus. The poor weather meant they had to postpone their campus tour so instead, Remy and the other recruits met up with their hosts for the weekend. Remy's host, Meg, decided to take her on a tour of her dorm room. And that's where things took a turn for the worse…

Meg started out the tour in the dorm common room, a chill area with a couch and TV. Then she showed Remy the bathroom, a standard small dorm room bathroom with the essentials: a toilet, sink and shower. Next stop on the tour: Meg's bedroom.
As soon as Meg opened the door, they heard her roommate shout “Meg don't come in!” But at that point it was already too late.
The recruit, Remy, had already seen. As clear as day, there was Meg's roommate…in bed with a male companion. And let's just say they weren't exactly sleeping.

Meg and Remy swiftly exited the room, both a little unsure of what to do next. After all, Remy had just met her host, Meg, a few minutes earlier—and at this point, Meg was mad. She had given her roommates a warning that she'd be bringing a recruit to see the room and this wasn't the first time something like this had happened.
Remy just remembered thinking, “Well damn, I guess I'm getting the whole college experience this weekend.”
The rest of the recruiting trip was slightly awkward for both Remy and Meg. They did the typical official visit activities–Meg took Remy to some of her classes, to the team practice and to a dinner out with the rest of the team.
Apart from the awkward start and the fact that Remy is from Florida and didn't own any winter clothes to get her through the cold New England weather, the trip was fine. The roommate mishap didn't end up putting too much of a damper on the trip. And luckily, it didn't end up negatively impacting Remy's opinion of the school either.
In fact, Remy ended up attending that same school the next fall. And hey–she came in with some first hand experience dealing with crazy roommates.
