Having a leader in any group is vital, but it's especially important on a sports team. The team needs someone to look to in times of adversity and struggle, and without a strong leader, the team will crumble during the toughest hours. An effective leader will bring comfort and calm in a hectic situation and step up in the biggest and most defining moments.

So if you're a team captain, be sure to act like one! And even if you're not in an official leadership position, everyone on the team can lead by example. For some, this might mean staying late at practice, coming up clutch in a big game, or just being a good supportive teammate. Whatever leadership looks like to you, lean into your unique style for the betterment of your team!
