“Show me a guy who's afraid to look bad, and I'll show you a guy you can beat every time.”
– Lou Brock
Lou Brock was an MLB player from 1960 to 1979. He played for the Chicago Cubs and the St. Louis Cardinals. The 2x MLB World Series Champion and Baseball Hall of Fame member played in 2,616 games and totaled 3,023 hits, 1,610 runs, 900 RBIs, and 938 steals. Known as the “stolen base specialist,” Brock's record for stolen bases stood until 1991.
Before the MLB, Lou Brock attended Southern University. With the Jaguars, Brock was a part of the 1959 baseball team that became the first HBCU to win an NAIA championship.
Lou Brock's quote is advice we all need to take. You can't be afraid to make mistakes in sports. Mistakes are a huge part of improving in your sport. You need to be willing to take risks if you want to make it to the top level. The best athletes in the world are those who are going to try things they aren't comfortable with. Attempting new skills, techniques, and moves will take you above and beyond other athletes.
