Athlete Interview: Fordham Football Walk-On, Jonah Isaac, Gives Recruiting Advice

is a player at Fordham University. In this interview, Jonah talks about what his recruiting process what like, how he found , and his experience being a walk-on.

Committing to Fordham as a football walk-on

I didn't know about Fordham until my mom took me on college tours on the East Coast. Me and my parents fell in love with the campus and when I heard they had a football team, I was like “alright, let's go for it.”

What he would do differently in his recruiting process

I wish I knew more about the recruiting process. I'm the oldest child in my family so it was the first time for me and my dad to understand what the recruiting process was like.

Differences between being a walk-on and a scholarship player

The main difference is that as a scholarship player, you get school paid for. The scholarship players are investments that the coaches are making in the program. Walk-ons are more of a risk.

Advantages of being a walk-on

When you tell people that you're a walk-on, you get so much respect from it. Especially people on the team, they know how much you love the sport and how much you're sacrificing to be on the team.

Recruiting tips for walk-ons

You should constantly be emailing coaches. For that first email, always send your updated highlight reel. They need to be able to see the type of player that you are.
