Once we become college athletes, it's easy to get caught up in the daily doubles, the season record, the offseason fitness; the stresses of being both an exceptional athlete and a phenomenal student. When this happens, we experience burnout and forget why we love the sport, and we ask ourselves WHY we chose to play in college.
This quote got me through those hard times: if I had a bad game or a day when I couldn't get everything done, I remembered why I started and why I needed to keep going. We are college athletes not for the glam and the glory, the title and free stuff, we're college athletes because we love our sport and will never give it up.
“Somewhere behind the athlete you've become and the hours of practice and the coaches who have pushed you is a little girl who fell in love with the game and never looked back. Play for her.”
