Daily Grind articles are posted the 15th of every month to provide a look into a day in the life of a college athlete and to give an example of time management skills.
Glory Smith just finished her senior soccer season playing at San Francisco State University. Before playing Division 2, she was recruited to play D1 soccer at Eastern Washington University and transferred her sophomore year. Glory has experienced two sides of competitiveness and says that transferring schools was one of the best decisions she made mentally and academically. Let's take a look into what gameday looks like for her.
8:30 am On match days, Glory sleeps in as much as she can until it's time to get ready. She immediately puts her gear on, no matter how much time she has, before leaving. During this time, she relaxes, got in the right headspace, and listens to some rap and hip-hop music.

9:15 am Depending on the day, Glory might head to school and get pregame treatment (rolling out/necessary taping/ heat pads) then report to the locker room. When in the locker room, the team has pregame talks and dance sessions before the coaches come in to talk about the objectives for the day.
10:30 am After coaches finish their pregame talk, it's time to walk out to the team's pregame playlist for the entire stadium to hear. Warmups consist of getting their bodies going, their touches in, and getting mentally ready to compete.

11:30 am It's game time! Time for kick-off and a competitive match against a school within the CCAA conference.
3:30 am After the match, Glory uses this time to head home and wind down from the day. She tackles any vital tasks needed to get done like homework, grocery shopping, chores, laundry, or other work. The grind really never stops!
