4 Sports and Their Respective Fashion Stereotypes 4 Sports and Their Respective Fashion Stereotypes

These days, most sports have a stereotype attached to them which includes how the athletes dress on a daily basis (for example, the idea that all college athletes walk around campus with their athletic bag all the time, which may or may not be true!). can be a great way for athletes to express themselves and certain sports have a distinctive “look.” We want to have some fun and bring light to these fashion stereotypes rather than talking down on them. The Baseball/Softball Player

A lot of you can probably picture the baseball/softball look: most of the time, these athletes will be wearing a hat (sometimes even their in-game cap) either with sunglasses over their eyes or on the top of their hat. It's what they have become accustomed to, having to wear both during games and practices. If you are lucky, you might even catch one snacking on some sunflower seeds as an added accessory.

The Soccer Player

More often than not, you'll catch soccer players wearing shorts. Soccer players have grown used to wearing them in freezing temperatures, as they are part of the uniform and soccer is played outdoors. Fashion aside, you gotta give them props for playing in any conditions!

The Basketball Player

The look of a basketball athlete is more about their appearance rather than their outfit. The majority of basketball players are taller than average, so more often than not, you can spot a basketball player towering above a crowd and ducking under door frames.

All golfers dress nicely, or more nicely than need be for a casual setting. Similarly to baseball players, golfers have grown accustomed to wearing a hat when they are competing with something as simple as a brand logo on it and nothing else. Their outfits are typically dapper, making them distinguishable from other people in a public setting.

Each and every sport has its own “stereotype.” If your sport wasn't included here, we would love to hear your thoughts on different sports and their stereotypes in the comment section below!
