Will Rizzo is a driven, dedicated, and determined Division I baseball player at the University of Nebraska who wants to reach his full potential in the classroom and on the field. He spends the majority of his time with his team practicing his sport. Along with athletics, he is pursuing a business degree and attends various business classes such as business analytics, entrepreneurship, finance, and management. From the early mornings to the late nights, this article will give you an in-depth look into Will's daily routine as a Division I athlete.
6:30-7:00 AM: Wake Up
Will wakes up to his alarm and takes a cold shower. He puts on his workout clothes for the day, makes his bed, and brushes his teeth. At 7:00 AM sharp, Will hops in his truck and heads to the weight room, listening to his hype playlist of course.
7:30-8:15 AM: Work Out
Will works out with his teammates to build strength, endurance, and power. His strength coach takes him through a thorough dynamic warmup and plyometric routine before hitting the heavy stuff!
8:15-9:15 AM: Shower and Breakfast
Will cools down with a cold shower after his workout. He then puts on his school clothes for the day and heads up to the Nebraska Training Table for breakfast. He loads his plate up with the usual: eggs, bacon, and hash browns!
9:30-10:45 AM: Class #1: Business Analytics
Will attends his first class of the day, business analytics. In this class, Will learns how to use Excel to market different sets of data.
11:00-11:45 AM: Study Time/Treatment
During this time, Will either goes into the training room to get soft tissue work or heads into the academic center to do homework/study for tests.
11:45 AM-12:15 PM: Lunchtime
Will heads back to the Training Table to grab lunch with his teammates. This is a great time to bond with his teammates and talk about the latest news.
12:30-1:45 PM: Class #2: Entrepreneurship
After lunch, Will heads to his second class of the day: entrepreneurship. In this class, Will learns how to formulate new business ideas based on current problems in the community. He works with a team to develop a business venture.
2:30-5:00 PM: Practice
After class, Will rushes over to the baseball field to get changed and ready for practice. The pitchers warm up, play catch, and then run PFPs (pitcher fielder practice). After this, Will shags batting practice with the other pitchers.
5:30-6:15: Dinner
Will heads back to the Training Table for his last meal of the day. He finishes his meal off with some high-calorie ice cream!
7:00-9:00 PM: Homework/Relaxation
After dinner, Will finishes up any extra homework that might be left over from earlier. If he doesn't have any work to do, he relaxes by reading books, hanging out with friends, or watching a show on Netflix.
9:30-10:00 PM: Sleep
At 9:30 sharp, Will makes himself a before-bed snack (usually this is an uncrustable PB&J from the field). After he finishes his snack, he heads to bed in order to get some great sleep before doing it all again tomorrow!
