Will Bentley is a sophomore on the University of North Georgia Division II soccer team. Will is an international student from Northwich, England, and is pursuing a bachelor's degree in math. Here is what a day in the life looks like for a collegiate soccer player in the spring semester and off-season!
8:30 am: Wakeup
Before heading to class, Will wakes up, gets ready, and has breakfast – consisting of peanut butter on toast, a protein yogurt, and a tangerine.
10 am: Class #1
The academic day kicks off with Calculus I.
11 am: Class #2
Guten Tag! German class swiftly follows calculus class.
12 pm: Lunchtime
Will has a quick turnaround between class and his next activity. To fuel himself for this, he either cooks up some eggs on toast or eats the food he prepared the night prior.
1 pm: Workout
Will then heads to team weights, which is usually a blend of plyometrics and strength training.
2 pm: Rest
Student of the game – Will uses his rest time to consume any live soccer that is on.
4 pm: Practice
To ensure he's as ready as can be, Will gets treatment for any sort of pain he may be experiencing. From there, it's onto practice, which usually starts with some technical work, followed by various possession drills, and culminates in a 9v9 scrimmage. Depending on the day, Will may get further treatment after practice.
6 pm: Dinner
Will heads home and makes himself dinner to refuel after a hectic day of physical exertion, usually opting for a meal high in protein and carbs.
7 pm: Homework
The day has gone full circle as it is back to academics for Will, who takes an hour or so to finish any homework he may have.
9 pm: Downtime
And relax! After a busy day, Will takes the evenings to indulge in some well-earned downtime by playing video games and watching Netflix.
