Abby Malek just finished her junior year at Bucknell University. Abby is an applied mathematical sciences major and is also a college rower for Bucknell. Big sports like football and basketball often get all the glory for their hard work and dedication. Other sports put in a similar effort but do not have the same support. Today, Abby Malek shared with us what her day in the life is like as a rower at Bucknell University!
5:40 am: Leave for practice
As a DI college rower, Abby gets off to a very early start. The team takes a bus to their practice site every morning. They get back each day by 9 am.
10-11 am: Breakfast
Abby will eat breakfast every morning with her team in the school's dining hall.
12-12:50 pm: Class #1
1-1:50 pm: Class #2
2-3 pm: Lunch
Abby will get lunch with her friends between classes at their dining hall!
3-4:20 pm: Class #3
5-6 pm: Lift with the team
Many people don't realize the strength it takes to be a DI rower. Lifts are super important for rowing athletes to stay in top form!
6-7 pm: Dinner at the Bison
The Bison is an on-campus grille and cafe that is a perfect place to go for a quick meal!
7-8:30 pm: Work
Abby works at the Bucknell Cap Center, which is Campus Activities & Programs. This is a place where students can get involved with campus clubs or try new activities!
9 pm: Homework/free time
Abby does not have a lot of time to herself during her busy schedule, so this is the time that she utilizes to finish up any homework and hang out with her friends.
