The NCAA is considering unbanning from its drug policy. There are many physical benefits of cannabis products as it can really help athletes with pain relief from injuries. However, if the NCAA decides to unban cannabinoids, it is important to remember to be cognizant of how and when you use.

If you've ever tried , you know you move a bit like a sloth. Studies have shown that your reaction time will continue to be affected for 6 hours after smoking 35mg or less. However, the effect will last 8 hours from THC extracts such as cannabis edibles or drinks. in mind that it will take about 30 to 60 minutes to digest an edible or drink, so you may want to give it an extra hour to get an edible out of your system.

What does this mean if you want to control your dose and effect so you can still perform the next day? We are not recommending this, but here is what you should do if you are in a pinch:

To better your performance means you've got to do the math. The following calculations provides you with an idea but it's not an exact measure because it really depends on how much you put in your joint or bowl to start with.

THC Math For Bows/Pipes: 3 Puffs = 36mg

  • If a bowl contains about 0.3g of flower = 300mg
  • Flower contains 20% THC
  • On average each bowl has about 5 puffs

THC in each bowl = 300mg x 20% THC = 60mg

THC in each puff = 60mg ÷ 5 =12 mg

So 3 puffs would be around 36 mg.

Math For Bongs: 2 Hits = 40mg

  • If a bowl contains about 0.3g of flower = 300mg
  • Flower contains 20% THC
  • On average each bowl has about 3 hits

THC in each bowl = 300mg x 20% THC = 60mg

THC in each puff = 60mg ÷ 3 = 20 mg

So 2 hits would be around 40 mg.

Math for Joint or Blunt: One-Third Joint = 30mg

  • If a joint or blunt contains about 0.5g of flower = 500mg
  • Flower contains 20% THC

THC in each joint/blunt = 500mg x 20% THC = 100mg

So 1/3 of a joint would be around 30 mg.

Math for Vapes: 7 to 14 puffs = 30mg

  • If a vape contains about 2g of THC = 2000mg
  • The vape has approximately 800 puffs

THC in each puff = 2000mg ÷ 800 puffs = 2.5mg

So 14 puffs of the vape would be around 35 mg. But not knowing how big a puff actually means, then being an athlete and probably able to take larger puffs, you may want to stop at 7 puffs.
