The LSU women's basketball team has continually shocked everyone throughout their 2022-23 season. In case you missed it, the Tigers have received high praise and accolades after defeating the University of Iowa in a 102-85 match and winning their first women's national title in school history. This year the team consisted of some up-and-coming stars, including Angel Reese and Alexis Morris, who have bulldozed through the competition and assisted in leading their teams to victory with their grit mentality and fundamental skill sets.
Also among these featured superstars is the multifaceted and underrated freshman baller, Flau'jae Johnson. Before being recruited to play at LSU, Johnson was making a name for herself in her hometown of Savannah, Georgia. According to ESPN, during her high school career, this dynamic guard was named the number 26 player and number 6 guard in the country and was rated as a four-star basketball player. Among other things, throughout her upbringing within the sport, she earned a spot on the Naismith All-America Team, which recognizes young players who continue to compete at a level that sets them apart from the rest. She was also the only female player in the Iverson Classic and played in the Jordan Brand Classic, both high-level tournaments that are selective in who participates. To say she was iconic before her talents were brought to the big stage is an understatement. Johnson was such a phenomenal athlete that her high school, Sprayberry High, retired her number 4 jersey after she had scored over 1,615 career points.
