The Massachusetts Institute of Technology foot team was coached by Coach Chad Martinovich. Since becoming the Head Coach of MIT in 2009, Coach Martinovich, steadily built MIT football into one of the fastest growing programs in the region as well as received coaching awards such as: NEFC Coach of the Year, New England Football Writers College Division Coach of the Year, and ECAC Coach of the Year and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Region I Division III Coach of the Year.
Martinovich has an extensive college coaching background and coached at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), Bucknell University, Hamilton College, and Swarthmore College before becoming Head Coach at MIT.

Q: What is the most important quality you look for in a recruit?
A: Character, academic excellence, and athletic ability.
Q: What is the best way for a recruit to get on your radar?
A: Fill out a questionnaire on our website, send us a film link, and send transcript/test scores.
Q: When should an athlete contact you and what is the best way?
A: Spring of junior year of high school.
Q: What are your expectations for incoming players in the classroom, in the weight room, and on the field?
A: We expect our incoming players to have a great work-ethic and competitive drive in all three areas.
Q: What are the do's and don'ts of being recruited?
A: Recruits should represent themselves and their family well with their words and actions. They should communicate with coaches directly rather than having a parent do it for them.
Q: What is the best advice you can offer a recruit?
A: Challenge yourself with the classes you take in high school and work hard to excel in them in order to give yourself a variety of options when looking for a college.
Q: What really jumps out to you when reviewing a recruit's highlight tape?
A: We look at how athletic he is first and foremost.
Q: What are the main do's and don'ts for a recruit's highlight tape?
A: A recruit should choose clips that showcase his athletic ability and high effort level.
Q: When do you recommend recruits put together and share their highlight reels? Is it best to make their highlight reel during offseason, in the middle of season, or after each game?
A: All of the above. We would rather have too much film than not enough.
Q: What advice do you have for recruits who get turned down by their dream schools? What are their options if they don't gain the recruiting attention they desire?
A: Make a list of all the things they look for in a school. Then find several schools that have the majority of the things on that list. That way they have multiple options.
Q: How big a factor is social media when recruiting players? What advice do you have for athletes regarding social media?
A: Think before you hit “send”. Show you have great character in everything you do.
