As an athlete, you're probably spending a good chunk of time on the road, and on some occasions, most of the games in the might end up being away games. When this happens, it is important to take all of the necessary things, and even some extra, to these events.

Here are the top 7 things you should always put in your travel bag:

Volleyball shoes 

First and foremost, shoes are an important thing to pack. Using shoes other than volleyball-specific shoes will turn into having a higher chance for an injury, so your volleyball shoes of choice should be the first item in your suitcase.

Your uniform and other athletic clothes

You don't want to be the only one without the right clothes at an . If it's a tournament or a serious game and you do not have the adequate clothing, you won't play.

Socks (and extra socks)

You can never go wrong with packing another pair (whether that's because you want to change them or maybe a teammate forgot theirs)

Kneepads 

This depends on the person but if you are someone like me that hates hitting the floor without knee pads, don't forget to pack these!

Deodorant and other self care items you depend on (like medication

No one wants to be the smelly teammate or the one being rushed to the ER!

Water bottle 

Some places might have a water fountain but it is always practical to have your own water bottle. Sometimes the water fountains will be far and will be time-consuming trying to find them, so it's always safer to pack your own and fill it up regularly!

Snacks

As athletes, we burn a lot of energy and we are always in need of more energy sources. Sometimes the trips to get to the tournament or game might take a long time (and could be expensive) so you don't want to be hungry!

Traveling can be stressful, so be prepared. Always try to make a checklist for yourself and hang it up somewhere where you know you're going to see it and be able to make a mental note before leaving. If you stick to this list, you'll be all set.
