Hits and Misses: The Best and Worst Soccer Gear From Two Major Brands Hits and Misses: The Best and Worst Soccer Gear From Two Major Brands

As more athletic brands began making deals with universities, brands have expanded their to fit the needs of the sports represented at these schools. Before being sponsored by a brand as a soccer player, I only wore and but after attending schools which were sponsored by Under , I got to experience a new brand that has made strides in a new market segment. In my opinion, the top brands for soccer equipment are still Nike and Adidas, as they have separated themselves from their competitors and have created gear that is far superior.

Nike

:

  • Running shoes
  • Cleats
  • Sports bras/spandex
  •

Hits or misses:

  • : I have found they tend to run more form fitting on the women's side, which is fine if you like that look! If not, ordering a size up will suit you best.
  • Soccer shorts: Some styles of their soccer shorts are awesome, depending on your preference. I have found them to be the most comfortable and flattering compared to other brands.
  • T-shirts
  • Soccer socks: the style of sock you get will allow for more stretch or stiffness.

Misses:

  • gloves: I never got behind their goalkeeper gloves. I always found other brands that were more durable and had a cut that I preferred.

Adidas

Hits:

  • Goalkeeper gloves: they are comfortable, sticky, last a long time, and have a slim cut option that is great.
  • Cleats: very classic cleats, extremely durable and long lasting

Hits or misses:

  • Jerseys: Depending on the style they can be flattering, but I also have had some that are not. Again, this it depends on the player's preference
  • Running shoes: whichever style you choose can determine the stability and wearableness of the shoe.
  • Sports bras/spandex: I have never had Adidas undergarments before and have honestly never heard of any of my teammates wearing them so I don't have an opinion (but no one I know is choosing to buy them).

Misses:

  • Guards: the only shinguards I've seen from Adidas are bulky
  • Soccer balls: these soccer balls seem like they are always flat, and it feels more like kicking a volleyball than a soccer ball

At the end of the day, gear preference is highly individualized. So choose what's best for you with my picks in mind.
