Trevor Michelson is an exceptional coach, embodying the best qualities of a mentor and leader. He has an unparalleled ability to connect with his athletes, understanding and communicating with them on a deep level. Trevor's dedication to his team is unwavering, evident in his genuine care for every individual. His coaching style strikes the perfect balance between traditional and innovative approaches, pushing his athletes to excel. With Trevor as my coach for just one year, I have witnessed his athletes not only become better rowers but better human beings, guided by his honesty, passion, and relentless pursuit of excellence. Trevor is a paragon of the next generation of coaches, inspiring and supporting his athletes to reach their full potential.

The best coach I’ve ever had. Unparalleled in his ability to understand and communicate with his athletes. He is a student of the sport, striking a great balance between the old school and the new. He asks a lot of you, but there’s no one you’d rather go to the well for.

Trevor Michelson is an incredible coach. He cares deeply about his team. Every boat, every athlete, every season, every race, every practice. He is at his best when the stakes are highest. After racing at Cornell, he led the team to its highest level since 2014. Trevor instills fearlessness in his athletes as they go into post-season racing.

There’s both not much and too much to say about Trevor. The not much is that what you see is what you get—a down-to-earth, cool, passionate, and caring guy. Trevor is brutally and refreshingly honest in a world which relies on fake personalities. Nothing about Trevor is fake. It’s all real. The concern for his athletes well-being, from physical to emotional to t to relationships, is as genuine on the 1000th meeting as it is on the first. The too much is everything else. It’s building a relationship with a coach who is the amalgamation of every good trait of all my previous coaches. Hard working, caring about his assistant coaches and his athletes, running a terrific training program, leading the most amazing motivational speeches. Trevor doesn’t just make amazing athletes. He turns boys into men. If you want your athlete to come out of their rowing career not just a better rower or coxswain, but a better human being, Trevor is your coach. If you want to love every day of practice, have a coach who will go to the mat for you no matter your erg scores or seat race results, Trevor is your coach. If you want a coach who owns up to his mistakes, is never afraid to take risks, and scares the shit out of the rest of the league—Trevor is your coach.

Trevor is simply dedicated to his athletes on an unbelievable level. He cares so deeply for every individual on the team in a way that is extremely unusual.

Coach Michelson is the paragon of the up-and-coming generation of collegiate rowing coaches. His knowledge, intensity, and conviction creates the foundation for an outstandingly strong relationship with every one of his athletes. His love for the sport and belief in his athletes is absolute, and he’s always available to give inspiration, advice, or support to anyone in need.

Trevor taught me how to row and how to work towards something I believe in. He knew my name with him the first week of me joining the novice rowing program, and he encouraged everyone to put in the work to try to earn a spot on the varsity team. He taught me the importance of training with a long term goal in mind, and he has continued to motivate me through injuries, rough patches, and bad performances. He wants so badly for his athletes to succeed, and you can tell that he truly believe that our team will only get better in the coming years. I truly appreciate everything that Trevor has given me through this sport, and I know that he will always be someone I can talk to if I need advice for any aspect of life.

Trevor is far and away the best coach I’ve ever had in my rowing career. He is a master at maintaining interpersonal relationships with his athletes while balancing an incredibly intense and demanding training regimen. It’s hard not to have faith in Trevor as a coach, you know he is always giving his athletes everything he has and is truly just so passionate about the sport. One of a kind coach through and through.

Trevor is the man. Great motivator and knows how to cultivate positive culture and improvement. His dedication to his team is unmatched in the league. Can’t say enough good things.
