He was the worst coach I played for in all of the sports I played in my life- he does play favorites as mentioned by someone else- he doesn't care for all of his players- didn't feel cared for or looked out for by him in any means- if I could do it over, knowing he would be my coach, I would not have attended Skidmore.

Coach Plourde is guilty of playing favorites which causes resentment from one half of the team and adulation from the other half. He makes judgments about players before he meets them and his subconscious really drives his decision making. Other than that I really enjoyed my time at Skidmore and the culture is great.

Coach Plourde was great. As a freshman, we weren’t a successful team whatsoever, by senior year we were competing, and loving each and every game. Coach pushed us to be our best, and I’ll never forget my time playing for him.

Coach Plourde cares about you as a human being first and foremost. Yes, he wants to win ballgames but he also wants you to leave Skidmore a better person than you were when you entered, and that’s the essence of D3 sports. He’s created a culture of love, work ethic, and radiant energy that strengthens us as a team.

Coach has changed a ton over the past 4 years. He is now able to relate to his players much better and he has created a family-like culture. Our level of intensity and work ethic has also sky-rocketed over the past few seasons (also thanks to assistant Coach Mick).

The issue with Coach Plourde is that he does not have a great understanding of the game and can't relate to players. He has never played the game at a high enough level. He doesn't make personal relationships or motivate his players. Players leave Skidmore as either a better ball player from there own hard work or just losing love for the game.

Hard to want to play for -- shows very little emotion during/before games. The willingness to play for a coach among players is a huge asset to winning ballgames and Coach Plourde just doesn't have that fire.

I loved playing at Skimdore and under Coach Plourde. I'm not sure that I got better in those four years, but I had a blast and that's why I wanted to play college baseball.

Ron is a great guy and is very supportive of his players. He was honest with his recruiting and gives all of his players a fair chance. He is somewhat hard to relate to (which I think is ok for a coach). My biggest complaint was that I don't feel many players get better throughout their time at Skidmore, and if they do it is on their own time and not with the coaching staff. Also, in-game management can be occasionally frustrating.

Coach Plourde has an unmatched love for the game of baseball. His attention to detail and investment in each player is unlike any coach I have played for. Coach Plourde truly cares about each player on the team, and wants each player to improve as an individual both on and off the field. If you trust the system, you'll have an amazing four years at Skidmore.

Coach Plourde is an excellent coach to play under, as he understands the game of baseball and is easy to get along with and talk with about future progression not only in the sport, but in life.
