Matt’s coaching goes beyond what we do on the erg and on the water. He values communication, nutrition, sleep, academics, personal life, etc. Many coaches I’ve had in the past didn’t preach or even acknowledge the importance of taking care of these things like he does. There are a lot of stressors in the life of a college athlete, and he knows how to read us. Matt is not only an incredible coach, but also, a mentor.
