I am a coach who has had player play for Craig. My experience dealing as a coach to coach is that he is educated, knowledgeable and honest. He uses a standard based style program. When you’re trying to change culture that’s not always easy. That said his results speak for themselves. The player I sent enjoyed her experience playing for Craig.

What sets Coach Roberts apart was not just his extensive knowledge of the game but also his ability to inspire and motivate the team. He pushed us to our limits, both physically and mentally, challenging us to become better athletes and better individuals. His coaching style was tough but fair, and he had a remarkable talent for bringing out the best in each player.

An experienced tactician; knows the game very well, and navigates player-personnel matters with due consideration of context and with the right measures of encouragement and correction. I've only ever observed the most positive interactions. He coaches with a keen awareness of individual and team development, immediate and long-term goals, and constructive responsiveness to all concerns, both on and off the field.

When explaining an idea or concept, Coach Craig always makes sure everyone is in the same page. He expects a lot from his players but also will take the time to hear a player if they have a different opinion or need help individually on the field. Something that is greatly appreciated by a lot of his players.

I was the athletic Director at Virginia military institute and Craig was a coach there. I found him very honest, hard-working, and he knew the game. His players really liked him because he was direct with them but you could tell he really cared for every single member of the team.

Coach Roberts walked into a struggling program, and made an immediate impact at SIU. It was an exciting season for the Salukis, and the soccer community in Carbondale.

Was able to take a loosing D1 team (three years straight) and in months was in contention for a conference championship. The players were motivated, determined, together, and achieved things even they didn’t know was possible. Excellent coach who loves, understands, and appreciates the game!

I coached in the youth system affiliated w Coach Roberts’ staff. He’s extremely knowledgeable in terms of tactics and communication. He’s great with kids, respectful of his adult players, and builds a great atmosphere.

Nothing but positive things to say. He is very driven and expects a lot from his players however this drive enabled me to develop as a person and player. I received accolades for my performances during my playing day. Craig has been a strong reference for me and written reference letters that I believe helped me in my early stages to get a job.

Personally, I had a very good experience with Craig as my coach during my time at Ball State. Though I had teammates who felt otherwise, I feel a major problem was the fact that Craig was extremely direct with his communication and did not excuse/take it easy on players who did not follow team rules and expectations…but honestly, my prior coach before I came to Ball State was much much worse. He truly exhibited sexist behavior and verbal/emotional abuse. Craig was always respectful towards me and was an actual caring coach who wanted to maximize my experience on and off the pitch. For me, Craig revitalized my passion for soccer and led our team to great success. Yes, I feel Craig needs to improve on his ability to control his temper and think before he speaks to players and referees, but I do not think he deserves to be labeled as abusive. When I look back on my collegiate experience, I believe Craig was someone who was a positive light on my athletic and academic experience. Though others have shared differing opinions, this is my honest feedback on MY experience.

Discipline was very important. Doesn't matter if you were the best player on the team, it was about who worked heard throughout the week and deserve to start during
