Beth demands the best of her players and expects them to work hard, both in academics and hockey. She supports individuality in her players while expecting social cohesion. While she may seem to take team voice seriously, it was common to feel belittled or even manipulated by her. However, she does know her stuff. While her pursuit for perfection from her team was often frustrating and tiring, I did more than I ever thought I could accomplish at Skidmore because of the work ethic she imparted.

Beth is a great & effective coach. She turns her bench players into starters to continue on maintaining the strong SCFH reputation. You'll become a better player under her, guaranteed, with a deeper understanding of game & strategy. She is harder on the non-starters & doesn't connect to them as well. If you aren't cutting it, you'll know it. The key is to not take her tone personally, and push yourself to be better- not to be discouraged or think you'll never play.

Great coach, knows a lot about the game and was voted NCAAs coach of the year many times. Plays favoritism at practice but in games the best players will play.

Beth is very straight forward in the recruiting process, however she does play favorites during the season. She is less forward once a player is on the team. She can come off cold but has an expansive knowledge of field hockey and our components.

Beth Hallenbeck is the best coach I have had. She cares so much about each individual player and their success on and off the field. Her passion for field hockey is infectious. I know that having her as a coach will make me the best field hockey player I can ever be.

She knows what needs to be done in order to make a team successful, she knows that it takes more than just natural talent and that the game is more than only the physical aspect. She can be tough and she'll occasionally play favorites. She sets high standards for everyone on the team.

Playing for Beth was a great experience for me. Not only does she put together winning teams, she genuinely cares about each girl on the field. Always ready to listen, Beth was a huge part of why my college career was so successful and great.

She was extremely knowledgeable, used our time effectively, respected time commitments, ensured that we fulfilled academic commitments, and really wanted us to learn. I fully absorbed appreciation for these things after graduating and realising how much I'd learned from her. At the time, I was quite caught up in the fact that she paid more attention to starters, did not connect with us on a social level, and had a level of intimidation that instilled a bit of perfectionism and anxiety at times. However ultimately I learned from all of these things, whether 'good' or 'bad'!

Beth is not the kind of coach looking to also be your friend. She is tough, expects a lot, and makes it known when you're not meeting those expectations. But I became a better player and person under her watch and I wouldn't have wanted to play for anyone else. She knows the game, knows how to win, and knows how to keep her team working together. If you work hard for her, she will work hard for you both on and off the field.
