James Madison University – Bridgeforth Stadium

Year Opened: 1975
Capacity: 24,877
Fun Fact: Before its transition to the Sun Belt, Bridgeforth was the largest stadium in the Colonial Athletic Association.

At number one on our list, we have Bridgeforth Stadium, home of the James Madison Dukes. After being built in 1975, the stadium was enlarged in 1981. Due to the rising popularity of the football program, a major $62 million renovation was completed in 2011 that increased seating capacity to 24,877 and added multiple amenities.

University of Montana – Washington-Grizzly Stadium

Year Opened: 1986
Capacity: 25,217
Fun Fact: The Grizzlies averaged 24,139 per-game over the course of a 7-game home slate last year, for a total of 168,975 fans. That's over 16% of Montana's population.

Washington-Grizzly Stadium is located in Missoula, Montana. During the 2016 Brawl of the Wild Washington-Grizzly Stadium hosted 26,182 fans, the fifth-highest attended game ever. Many improvements have been made since the construction of the stadium, including a new screen nearly double the size of the previous display.

South Dakota State University – Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium

Fun Fact: South Dakota's student section is named the Barnyard Cadets and can be found at the south end of the stadium.

Dana J. Dykehouse Stadium is located in Brookings, South Dakota. The newest stadium on this list, Dana J. Dykehouse Stadium was built in 2016. The stadium has a soy-based turf field and several different options for seating. At the south side of the stadium, there is a 3,100 square foot LED video board, one of the largest in the FCS.

Year Opened: 1992
Capacity: 19,000
Fun Fact: The Fargodome also hosts concerts with artists like and Justin Bieber.

Fargodome is located in Fargo, North Dakota. Ironically enough, the Fargodome is an indoor athletic stadium, not a domed stadium. The Fargodome is ranked annually at the top of the list for loudest stadiums. North Dakota State football fans love their Bison.

Jacksonville State – Burgess-Snow Stadium
Home Team: Gamecocks
Located: Jacksonville, AL
Year Opened: 1947
Capacity: 24,000
Fun Fact: The record for a single-game crowd for a football game at Burgess-Snow Field was set in the opener in 2017 versus Liberty when 23,944 fans witnessed the Gamecocks claim a 37-10 win over the Flames.

To wrap up our list, the fifth best FCS stadium is Burgess-Snow Stadium in Jacksonville, Alabama. Just in time for the 2005 season, turf was placed down in the stadium and a new scoreboard with video screens was installed in 2007. A seven-story Stadium Tower was built in 2010 that houses residence halls for students. Watching football from your bed, how cool is that?!
