Sometimes we forget how we should prioritize. Being a student athlete, it is difficult to prioritize anything other than our sport. I remember when I first joined the softball team at , my coach sat us all down and listed 3 things on the board,

  1. FAMILY
  2. SCHOOL
  3. SOFTBALL

She said “embed this list in your brains, one should never succeed the other.” She put an emphasis on family. Family was the most important thing, nothing came before that. Next was school, school was the next level of importance. Once family and school were in order, then came softball. This was a rule the team lived by, and it makes a world of difference. You can write your own sport into number 3, and the rule still applies.
