So, they definitely took a hit from COVID cancellations and recruiting obstacles.

The Clemson Tigers basketball program was one of the founding members of the ACC in 1953. Notable players from this program include: Trevor Booker, Horace Grant and Larry Nance. They have a pretty good track record in the NCAA tournament: since 1980, they have made the tournament 12 times, going past the first round six times. This season was less impressive but still respectable, landing 8th in the conference with an even 10-10 conference record.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have a rich history and have been in the process of rebuilding to that standard. They won the 2021 comeback season and earned a spot in the NCAA tournament, but last time they made the NCAA tournament before then was in 2010. The Louisville Cardinals have had a huge presence in the ACC for years. They have two NCAA tournament championships: 1980 and 1986. The Wake Forest Demon Deacons have made just two NCAA tournament bids since 2010, one being in 2010 and the other in 2017. However, they never made it far – losing in the second round in 2010 and the first four in 2017. They finished this season with 5th place in the ACC and a 13-7 conference record.

From my perspective as a non-student-athlete who goes to a school in the ACC, it is interesting to see how big of a crowd a game can attract, even though we could be projected to lose it. This is the impact of going to a big-name school in the ACC – people want to watch no matter if the team is good, bad, supposed to win or supposed to lose. The ACC culture makes it fun for not only student-athletes, but as well. If a recruit chooses to commit to any of these schools, they will have incredible seasons to look forward to and a fan base that can't be matched.
