Practicing is a great way to quickly and easily unwind. is crucial for athletes, with our busy schedules and constant expectations of our bodies and minds to perform.

You don't have to know how to meditate or do yoga to take advantage of the benefits of mindfulness. Mindfulness comes in all different forms, and can be adapted to what's best for you! It all comes down to what makes you happy, helps you relax, and gets your mind off the daily stressors.

Here are a few tips you can try:

  1. Focus on your breathing

Take a few minutes each day to sit or lie down and just focus on your breathing.

  1. Go for a walk

When you've been cooped up in your room or in the library, going for a walk is a great way to get some blood flowing and a great time to let your mind wander. Getting some fresh air and greenery is always good for you, too.

  1. Take a break

Taking just a five or ten minute break to check in with yourself and take inventory of your thoughts and emotions can benefit you in the classroom and on the field. This could be a break to call a friend and get away from schoolwork, or a technology break where you just sit and chill for 5-10 minutes.
