Navigating and the recruitment process can certainly be intimidating.  When and if pro football comes into the picture for athletes, 2aDays wants to help in  any way possible. 2aDays often conducts interviews with a wide variety of sports leagues in  order to aid high school athletes. We sat down with several professional football players and coaches in order to get their take on what high school athletes should know–here's what  they said.

Q: What is the best piece of advice that you can offer to a high school athlete  who is looking to play at the next level?

Will Yeatman, Former Miami Dolphins OT:

Work as hard as you possibly can in the classroom, who can actually get from high  school to college to the Pro's. Stay as focused as you can in the classroom and use  your sports to propel your success.

Mike Rutenberg- Harris, New York Jets LB Coach:

“Find a coaching staff that you like and trust. You need to find a coach you can trust and  also do the research on your part.”

Troy Polamalu, Former Pittsburgh Steelers Safety:

“To me whether you're an athlete or not, the question is, ‘What is going to drive you to be  successful?' Is it hard work, dedication, and sacrifice? Because it needs to be all of the  above. For me, I was so focused on my craft that it usually didn't matter what other people said to me. I was determined to work hard and be successful no matter what it  took.”

Jerome Bettis, Former Pittsburgh Steelers RB:

“The advice that I have is, you obviously want to get your best opportunities in front of  you, but don't be afraid to walk on somewhere. Exhaust all of the opportunities that are  available to you. If you love the game, don't be afraid to go to a smaller division,  because playing football is playing football. If your goal is to ultimately go to the NFL,  they'll find you, wherever you are. So don't be afraid to go down to a smaller division or school. The opportunity to play football, if it's great enough, you will do whatever you  have to do.”
