What was the recruiting process like for you as an international athlete?
Find a solid organization that is going to travel and put you in front of colleges and universities. Caleb also talks about his experience with Team Canada and how that helped him with his recruiting process. Take advantage of the opportunities when you are in the States.
Playing for Team Canada
Caleb talks about his experience with Team Canada. COVID cut a lot of his experiences short, but he was able to play a lot of current big leaguers like Rowdy Tellez and Jordan Romano. They traveled to Florida and played the U.S. in a friendship series and played some big-time names like Jackson Holiday, Elijah Green, and Temarr Johnson.
Caleb's pitching repertoire and how he attacks hitters
Clark is a low ¾ arm slot left-handed pitcher and so he uses this to his advantage to attack hitters. Clark favors his changeup which he considers his best pitch. Caleb has realized that he has had to “outsmart”/”outpitch” hitters in college.
Clark also talked about his struggles as a freshman and having to compete against 23-year-olds to win a starting spot. A big part of playing at this level is being able to learn from failure and manage the game.
The 2024 season
Clark's number one goal is to take the team to regionals and to Omaha. Omaha is where the College World Series is held every year. A big part of this goal is being able to win the Big 10 tournament.
