You can catch Jody Brown on TV for the next couple of weeks, as she will be representing her home country of Jamaica in the 2023 World Cup! Brown is only 21 years old and is already playing in the biggest soccer tournament in the world. She may seem young, but this is not Brown's first rodeo. Jody Brown appeared in her first World Cup at the age of 17 in the 2019 World Cup.
During her off-time representing her country on one of the world's biggest stages, Jody Brown is also a college athlete. Brown just finished her sophomore year playing for the Florida State University women's soccer team. In her two seasons, Brown has racked up the accolades. Brown scored 8 goals and had 10 assists in her 2022 season, and was awarded United Soccer Coaches third-team All-American, All-ACC first-team, and in 2021, Brown and the Seminoles became NCAA national champions. Brown still has two years left at Florida State, and will likely be one of the players to watch in college women's soccer for her final years.
Jamaica will play in the 2023 World Cup in Group F with Brazil, France, and Panama. You can catch Jody Brown and Jamaica here. Their first game is on Sunday 7/23 at 6 am. Jamaica is ranked 43rd in the world and has its work cut out for them competing against some of the very best in the world.
