Gerek Meinhardt is a former NCAA fencer and current member of the USA Olympic fencing team. A native of San Francisco, California, Gerek competed at Notre Dame during his undergraduate years while he was pursuing his degree in business and finance. Gerek became the youngest fencer to represent the United States at the 2008 Beijing Olympics when he was just 18 years old. He was also a member of the Olympic squad in 2012 and 2018, as well as 2020.

Gerek also boasts the title of being the only American man to win two medals at the Senior World Championships (bronze in 2010 and 2015). Between his participation in both individual and team events, Gerek has racked up an impressive resume of accolades including being an 11-time Pan American champion along with countless other podium finishes at major international events. Gerek, now 31, is in his first year at the University of Kentucky Medical School, where he studies alongside wife and fellow USA fencer, Lee Kiefer.
