I've never been a big reader, but I could always motivate myself to learn if I knew the information would make me a better athlete and help my team in the long run. Throughout my college years, I've been introduced to several that have helped shape who I am as a person and a teammate. I've included five of these books below with the hope that you will enjoy and benefit from them as much as I have! 

Chop Wood, Carry Water by Joshua Medcalf
This book is perfect for someone who has a long journey ahead of them toward reaching their goals.
lesson: The greatest adversity in your journey is defeating the man (or woman) in the mirror.

What Drives Winning by Brett Ledbetter
This book is perfect to read right before a ; it includes a workbook to track your progress.
Main lesson: Building character is the ultimate achievement.

Wolfpack by Abby Wamback
This book compares an athletic team the Yosemite wolfpack and offers 9 tips on becoming a good team member and leader.
Main lesson: There are no limits.

In the Water They Can't See You Cry by  
This book is a memoir from a former college swimmer and 3x Olympian who struggled with status, depression, drugs and alcohol, and bulimia.
Main lesson: Happiness is the greatest victory.

Everything Your Coach Never Told You Because You're a Girl by Dan Blank
This book, written by a collegiate women's soccer coach, communicates everything that athletes would have been told if they were men instead of women; it addresses the persistent sexism in athletics and how to overcome it.
Main lesson: Girls should never apologize for winning.
