When I was deciding to transfer, I was so worried and scared. It was the most difficult decision I've ever made, and it was a challenging process once I made that decision. Nonetheless, I'm so happy with the outcome. We all make mistakes, but it's easier to admit that you chose the wrong school than you stay in an unhappy situation for 4+ years. Here are my top three pieces of advice for those who are considering transferring. 

1. Don't wait until you're 100% sure to start: Start researching other schools as soon as you're unhappy. It's like the recruiting process all over again, and you want to make sure you have time to take all the necessary steps to not choose the wrong school twice.
2. Stay on top of school: When you transfer, you still have to get admitted to the university, not just the team. This is even more important for athletes hoping to transfer than incoming freshman because many schools have higher admittance requirements for transfers.
3. Be shameless: Don't be afraid of judgment, or afraid to admit that you made a mistake and you're unhappy. Make it a priority to find a place where you will be happy.
