Pat did a great job leading both sprint and fly groups. He comes up with the most creative and individualized sets out of all coaches to focus on what his athletes need. He is very knowledgeable in technique and definitely made me a better swimmer. Unfortunately, I do not think the head coaching staff gives him the freedom/ decision making power he deserves. He is outgoing, organized, and motivational.

Overall Pat was in my opinion the best coach at UMBC. He was the most knowledgable about technique and taught his swimmers in a more modern way. When he lead practices he motivated his swimmers and was super passionate. I feel that Pat isn't given enough room and freedom to coach as the head coach holds him back. If the team was lead by Pat or if Pat was given more freedom to do what he thinks is right then the team would be headed in the right direction. At the moment it is not..... quality /depth wise it'll hit rock bottom in coming years.
