Richwine has been at the helm of Dickinson softball for 20 years and quite frankly is not a coach that exudes any type of passion for the game or his athletes. Has very limited working knowledge of the game, coaching techniques, or ability to communicate and connect with athletes. He frequently pitted players against other teammates for no reason other than to creating infighting and a podium of influence which he would exploit through secret meetings with those who he deemed to be most trustworthy. These meetings allow him to lay the groundwork for his personal agenda prior to whole team meetings to ensure the right things where said to fluff his own ego and maintain a “we are happy with mediocrity” mentality on the team and cover up frustrations within the team. The Dickinson athletics department is just as guilty in creating- and maintaining- this toxic team culture and acceptance of mediocrity by allowing a subpar coach- which a 20 year sub .500 record to remain at the helm.
