Cares About Academics Old School Mentality Poor Communication
Lies to his players to appease their emotions (which he has absolutely no ability to empathize with) rather than being direct about his opinions of you as a player. Very poor communication skills. Every coach wants to win, but what makes a great coach is creating a community, creating positive relationships with players, making sure the players still enjoy the sport. He does none of that. He doesn't respect his players unless you're one of the 2-3 stars that can win him games (only until someone better comes along though). Doesn't take time to develop his players either (in the sport or personally). He has zero interpersonal skills.
