Another epic fail for Colgate Women’s Lacrosse, embarrassing is an understatement!

The biggest mistake you daughter could make would be to commit to play lacrosse for KT. The sport your daughter loves and has spent countless hours perfecting will turn into a sport your daughter hates in little over a year. Current starters that should have transferred out at the end of last year are now just playing out the season hoping that it would end tomorrow. This is how it will go for most of the freshman class if you decide to stay with Colgate and KT. Freshman year your daughter will be put on a pedestal and praised as the saviors of the program. Fall ball will come around and all of the new players will get a majority of the playing time with praise and admiration. The parents and players will be happy. This for most will be the last time they will say that. From that point on if your daughter is producing on the field, you will have at least one good season until your daughter has an injury. Kids know this and play hurt with said injury not disclosing it. While this is going on KT is busy trying to flush the toilet on the sophomores and upper-class to see who she can get to quit so she has more $ to offer her next class coming in. Year two for your daughter the whole cycle starts all over. New freshman will get all of the playing time and the shining stars will be forced into the lineup. KT will stick with this lineup to prove to everyone what a great recruiter she is. If your daughter was a producer as a freshman and remains a starter the competition will now put their best defender on her and shut her down. KT is not smart enough to as a coach to recognize this and will do absolutely nothing to help get your daughter open. She will stay with her magnificent offense of pass the ball around for 70 seconds with each player trying to go 1v1. When that doesn't work a desperation shot is taken as the shot clock expires, essentially an unrecorded turnover. 2024 1-10 (maybe 1 more win in their future) 2023 4-11 2022 6-12 2021 5-6 2020 3-4 (covid) Zero coaching, horrible winning percentage, only 2 four-year recruits of hers graduating. By the time your daughter reaches her junior and senior year you will realize she is stuck at Colgate playing for KT miserable and hating her decision to play there. Don't take my word for it have your daughter ask juniors and seniors. decommit while you can! Freshman athletes hit the transfer portal and run as fast as you can. Juniors and seniors get the AD on speed dial and start campaigning to have KT fired. don't get trapped like many have. Colgate is a wonderful school that your daughter will not want to leave after you finish your sophomore year. DON'T GET STUCK IN THE CESSPOOL THAT KT HAS CREATED!

Coach Taylor is a failure! She might have”changed” since the abuse allegations but in actuality she is still the same Coach. She wanted to change the culture and program so badly that she simply damaged herself and her reputation, as the saying goes “your reputation is all you have” and she has failed, These young impressionable young athletes all know her motive; tear them down, thinking they will play harder! But that tactic doesn’t work anymore! Exit the program, give these young women a positive experience. Your time is UP! Future commits reach out don’t go to COLGATE if Kathy Taylor is there!

This team has been systematically broken down year on year under Kathy Taylor. To the point that they are now incapable of beating a decent D3 team. Kathy Taylor might have been a very good D2 coach but whatever magic she had is long gone. (which was likely easily recruited great talent in the upstate New York market at a lower academic school masking mediocre coaching- but I digress). More specifically, Taylor makes zero in game and halftime adjustments. This Coach will see a train approaching literally from 2 miles away and continue to walk right into its path. Virtually every game in 2024 the opponent outshoots Colgate 3 to 1. The defense plays a soft man to man coverage leading to inordinate amounts of free shooting space calls and after going down by 4 or 5 goals they then try to increase man to man pressure leading to numerous passes to cutters scoring or just one on one breakdowns leading to 10 point or more losses. The offense is simply scared to make a mistake and are in the bottom 5 percent in the country in shots attempted , goals made, one of the absolute worst in D1 in turnovers and one of the worst in the country in draw controls. Kathy Taylor is the head coach and solely accountable for the outcomes of this program. Whether your are in the tiny fraction of parents who like her or not and no matter how one feels about former and current players allegations of abuse by her, coaches are ultimately judged on wins and losses. And don’t give me “well there are other things more important than wins and loses”, because these kids were all academic high performers coming into college and would achieve off the field in any environment. Team GPA has been consistent and high well before Coach Taylor was hired. In sum, Kathy Taylor you should do the proper thing and step aside for the program to move forward and the ladies who remain to have any chance of salvaging a true student athlete experience. Sometimes true leadership requires selfless sacrifice. Colgate, if Kathy Taylor does not resign, which she likely should have already, you have a professional responsibility to immediately relieve her of her duties for those 20 plus student athletes who prematurely left the program under her leadership and the 20+ current players (at least half of which loathe the day they decided to play under this coach).

Colgate University supports this constant abusive behavior over and over. Coach Taylor may have a handful of foolish followers, but the truth is she creates a toxic environment plays mental games with our daughters during each practice and during game time decisions! Don’t send your daughter to Colgate! Speak to the other athletes she is a SHAM, scam artist and clearly a legend in her own mind!! Don’t go to COLGATE

Horrible program. Horrible coaching. Team is miserable. Freshman transfer while you can before it's too late. The only happy sophomore from last year's squad is the kid that transferred to Vanderbilt!

As a parent and a Women's lacrosse fan it amazes me how KT keeps doing the same thing over and over and over with no results and thinks it is going to work. Good coaching teaches and demands discipline and implements a system that helps the team be better at maintaining possession. Winning teams usually double the number of turnovers in their shot total. Teams are taking triple their turnovers in shots against Colgate. Colgate 28 shots to 37 turnovers in two games says it all. Can't win games when you are not taking shots and don't have possession of the ball. It was the same last year, hopefully something changes. Transfer portal is looking like a real option for many.

Colgate has allowed Coach Taylor to continue to be a terrible leader the program is broken no money asking for fund raising by parents for “away”travel . She will tear down your daughter. Do your homework ask questions !!

If your daughter is being recruited by Kathy Taylor please ask any of the players on the team if Kathy Taylor has had a positive impact on them in any way. You will be lucky if any of them could think of one thing to say.

I am a parent of a former player- key facts about Coach Taylor- 1) she is a narcissist 2) her main plot is to manipulate her players, ultimate puppet master! 3) evil ugly person 4) views her team in a pyramid form , if you in her eyes are on the bottom you are not WORTHY! Stay away!! Call email Instagram other players! Find out what is the real truth about this TOXIC program!

If your daughter has JUST committed or is considering committing, for the mental and physical wellbeing of your daughter ask questions about this program,seek out and ask WHY the athletes are quitting?!!! Your daughter will suffer she manipulates them , they start to question their worth. A smart coach will grow with her team, give them tough love as well as strong leadership . Her assistants sadly don’t have any say and therefore can’t influence Coach Taylor to be a better coach and person. There are many great Patriot League lacrosse programs seek others!

If your daughter is being recruited by Coach Taylor do your daughter a favor and look elsewhere! As a parent you should be looking for a coach that will have your daughter's best interest in mind. You will definitely not get that at Colgate. I do not see how the University will extend her contract so with any luck your daughter will end up playing for a different coach. I wish my daughter never heard of coach Taylor... If I could turn back the clock, I would have begged her to accept one of the other offers. For the record KT did not ask the attacker to play goalie. The attacker (that never played goal before) volunteered to play goalie for her TEAMMATES not for the coach.

Weight shames girls. Makes them play through injury. 20 girls have left under her leadership. Team is not competitive at all. And it’s getting worse. Zero depth. Ended the season with maybe 23 on roster. Literally ran out of goalies last year. Asked an attacker to play goalie when she had never done it. This is not D1 lax. Not a serious program. Colgate is a great University but this is a Mickey Mouse lax program. Do NOT let your daughter play here unless they change the head coach. Assistants are good but they have no role. Recruiting is in the toilet and will get worse. Likely wont win a single game this year. Decent chance by the time spring rolls around they can’t field a team because of all the quits.

Very honest experience with Coach Taylor I am a parent my daughter plays for her currently she is the master of head games, please reconsider my daughter is looking to leave the team! She is a terrible human being- consider and go to another school

Lacrosse Travel teams are all being notified don’t send your athletes to Colgate under Coach Taylor. Freshman Stars in the portal (Coach Taylor recruits) toxic environment. Don’t play at Colgate stay away ask questions ! Colgate administration allowed this!!

Stay far away. Manipulative. Always waiting for the next Freshman class

How long can Colgate continue to keep this coach? Every contact she has with players negatively affects them. She destroys their love of the sport and breaks them down emotionally and physically. Colgate University's reputation is one of intellectual rigor with world class professors. The current women's lacrosse coaching situation is the antithesis of those standards. The girls on this team deserve so much better.

How long will Colgate University keep this going?

My daughter is currently on the team. If your daughter is committed to play for KT please have her ask the current players if they are happy playing for her. I would be shocked if you get one athlete to say they are. The culture created by this coach is toxic. She will suck your daughters love for the game out of her. Lets look at KT record...it is horrible for someone trying to build a program. In her first year (3-4) = 43%, second year (5-6) =46%, third year (6-12) =33% & fourth year (4-11) =27%. Thats 35% winning percentage over four seasons. Makes zero in game adjustments, KT formulates a game plan and stands there watching it not work. Her roster was so depleted this year from women quitting the team she had an attacker that has never played goalie suit up and get between the pipes. I don't think that has ever happened at a D1 program and KT & the Colgate AD should be embarrassed that it did. Let's not forget the BU game this year where KT did zero pregame on game day and went out to the sidelines 20 minutes before first draw and was a spectator on the sideline basically gave up on the team in a game that turns out to be the one that cost them a playoff spot. I feel sorry for the assistant coaches I am sure they are treated as poorly as the athletes. I really do not know how much longer Colgate can keep her as the HC. If my daughter did not love Colgate she would transfer out. My advice to anyone committed to play at Colgate for KT explore any option you have to go elsewhere.

As a follow up to Coach Taylor’s record!- Colgates record 2015 10-6 2016 8-9 2017 6-9 2018 10-7 2019 8-10 2020 Kathy Taylor 3-4 2021 5-6 2022 6-12 2023 4-10 She has done NOTHING for the culture,morale or the program! Colgate is ranked 67 nationally Prior to Coach Taylor they were ranked in the 50’s nationally!! Why is she still employed?

Let’s review what Coach Taylor and her assistants have done for this program! What has their record been ? Nothing to speak of, where does this program rank not higher since she has taken over this program! How can Colgate attract top recruits with this baggage they are continuing to carry. Have alumni supported this team? She has broken many of these young ladies many many stories have been told. Colgate needs to start listening! How can she still be employed? Her record is awful!!

Colgate and Kathy Taylor's record speak for itself. In the 4yrs she has been the coach, she hasn't done anything significant but "bust the morale ", where are the alumni? where are the seniors ? If you look at the Mens Lax program they have 11/12 seniors , the message is loud, yet not CLEAR on Colgates behalf. Make the positive change for the reputation of the school.

The current news articles about Coach Kathy Taylor barely scrim the surface of the abuse that has gone on unchecked at Colgate during Coach Taylor’s tenure. Many players former and present are scarred to speak up for fear of retribution and/or because they are still attempting to recover from the abuse they suffered. If you are being recruited to play at Colgate please understand that no one is safe and seriously consider talking to current and former players to understand the culture of the program. The brave women who came forward have nothing to gain and are simply hoping to protect other young women from abusive treatment at the hands of the current coaching staff.

Let me start by stating I am a parent, of a former Colgate LAX player under Coach Taylor. The freshman and sophomore classes have seen the "newly investigated " Coach Taylor, she is obviously under watch and there fore is behaving "normally" . Some parents have bashed these brave young women for coming out with their stories of abuse, if it were not for them, the underclassmen would be victims as well. Stop "hating on them " and be supportive! Women should support women, not break them and knock them down! Colgate shame on you !

Kathy Taylor and her midget husband have obviously lawyered up! Beware don’t go to Colgate she will destroy you and break you!! Sick sick woman!

Manipulates and marginalizes those players who do not match her myopic view of an athlete. Makes insensitive comments and racial microaggressions. Isolates, intimidates and shames young players, rather than supporting and developing them in a positive way. Student athletes should be protected from coaches like her.

As a recent former player of Kathy Taylor, and in light of recent news and media, I feel compelled to share my experience with the hope that I might save at least 1 future Colgate Women's Lacrosse player. As a Coach, Kathy was tough and had high expectations of her players- I had no problem with that. Since I began playing sports as a young girl, I experienced my fair share of tough coaching; running as punishment, harsh comments and criticisms, etc. The problem with Kathy Taylor lays in how she treats young women and abuses her position of power. Never have I ever had a coach care this little about me as a person. Kathy Taylor has an incredible ability manipulate every situation to align with her agenda and feels no remorse in the implications this causes. Her priority is herself and her own personal record. Kathy Taylor knew most of her players on a surface level at best (I can almost guarantee that she didn't know any of our majors- let alone our backgrounds and personal goals). I can not stress this enough- you are simply an X on her whiteboard. If you were a player who didn't align with her personal agenda, she had numerous master-mind tactics to cut you out. She would isolate players in different ways; having separate groups at practice, responding to only certain players' messages, allowing only certain players to participate in practice drills, 'forgetting' players names, pinning teammates against one another behind closed doors, and more. When players got injured, Kathy Taylor showed no empathy and would instead take the opportunity to make an example out of them by not only separating them from team activities, but also by making statements to the team such as; "this is why the rest of us need to get stronger", "this is why we need to eat healthier", "this is why you need to train harder in the off-season". Furthermore, she would make injured players feel responsible and guilty for the situation making comments like; "you're letting the team down" and "how do you think your teammates feel when they are running and see you sitting out". When players were dealing with their own mental battles, she would isolate them further making statements such as, "we don't miss you at practice", "do you even have any friends on the team?", "are you sure you really want to even play lacrosse here?". I watched MANY of my teammates experience this side of Kathy Taylor. On the other hand, as many have stated, there are two sides to every story, and in response to that I'd say that players who had a positive experience with Kathy Taylor are BEYOND LUCKY, I wish I could say the same. However, I would never wish it upon any young girl to go through what I, and many of my teammates, did. For any aspiring, ambitious, young-players reading this... if you decide to play for Kathy Taylor- may the odds be ever in your favor.
