Dr. Yates is an excellent AD. She wants to create an atmosphere to put student athletes first. She did so much for my team at FTCC. She helped increase our meal money and even got new buses with wifi for our travel. I don’t understand why she is on this website. She is not a coach.

Dr. Yates is an outstanding motivator, leader, and mentor. She will do anything to ensure that her student athletes are successful beyond the field of athletics. She truly wants to see them succeed as an individual in this world. She is the best administrator and contributor to athletics i've ever had as a player and as a coach.

Shannon has tremendous respect for student athletes and their success. In her career she has mentored numerous student athletes and only wants the best for them. She is dedicated to her job, and the success of each college or university athletic department she has worked in.

I have had the opportunity to know Dr. Yates for 7+ years, she started as my boss in collegiate athletics and grew to be my greatest mentor. Shannon is the epitome of a leader. The more you get to know her, the more you understand that her true love and passion is in helping student athletes and young people become the best version of themselves, physically, mentally, and spiritually. Through trials and tribulations in her own life, Shannon will move you in such powerful ways, she was destined to lead and I can say this with my whole heart, she has found her calling as an athletics director/administrator. There's no one I would rather have in my corner than Dr. Shannon Yates! #LFTP

I had the privilege of knowing Dr. Yates during my sophomore and junior year as a student-athlete at Southeast Missouri State U. She traveled with the gymnastics team to many meets and would always come to visit the team during practices. Dr. Yates significantly impacted me in my undergrad and always knew the right thing to say at that moment. Any time I passed by her office, I always went out of my way to go say hi, even if it was only for 30 seconds because I knew it would make her day and put a big smile on my face. There were many times after my meets when I wasn't happy with my results but she never stopped believing in me and continuously encouraged me to be the best gymnast I could be. Most faculty/coaches in collegiate athletics don't care for you as a person but rather just as a number on the team. But not Dr. Yates, she wanted to get to know who I really was off the competition floor and I could tell that she truly cared for me as a person. Fast forward after I graduated, she wrote me a recommendation letter which got me into several master's programs for speech-language pathology and I will forever be grateful for that. Just know that if you ever get to meet, or work with Dr. Yates that she is one of a kind and someone that you can trust and rely on!
