Athlete/Coach Interviews are posted every Thursday/Monday for recruiting advice, what to look for, and more.
Gauge Creech is a junior on the Franklin College Men's Swimming and Diving team. He is the team's best diver in school history, claiming both school records for 6 and 11 dives on 1 and 3 Meter.
He is undefeated in every dual meet and just recently competed at NCAA Regionals. To top his list of accomplishments off, Creech is Franklin College's first diver to make the NCAA tournament.
With all of these accolades, you'd think he is good enough to go Division I. And you would be correct.
In fact, Gauge Creech was recruited by multiple Division I schools during his recruiting process. He ended up looking at two of them, and one Division III school. He went on visits to all of them but only of the visits made the connection he was looking for.
But instead of going DI, Creech ended up signing up with Franklin College, a DIII school.
Why? For starters, he didn't feel the same way to the other schools as he did on his visit to Franklin. He felt more team camaraderie, tradition, and even work ethic.
Overall, he found what he was looking for in a school, which is an important part of the recruiting process.
Find out more as to why Gauge Creech didn't go Division I in the video attached!
