College athletes can have seasons where they are feeling overwhelmed, tired, and stressed about school, sports or both. There will be intense weeks of practice, final exams, and competitions in different states, and during these crucial weeks of the season, coaches may not give you a break to rest and disconnect. Here are some tips that can help you feel better, perform well, be efficient, and have a good attitude during these exhausting times.
Go to sleep early
It can be difficult if you have to do homework or study but try to manage your time to sleep at least 7 hours (and ideally 8). Having a good sleep can help you recover and feel better the next day, enhance your athletic performances, and help you stay on top of your school work (and have a better attitude!). If you want to get on a better sleep schedule, try to stop using your phone an hour before you go to sleep to help you wind down.

Control what you can control
Focus on the things you can control, not on external factors that are not on your hands. Being aware of this can help you stress less and enjoy your time more.
Talk to your teammates
A lot of people in your team may be experiencing similar feelings so sharing how you feel and what you are worried about with a friend or someone you trust on the team can help you realize that you are not alone.
Manage your time
Doing your school work with plenty of time to spare will give you one less thing to stress about. Also, getting things done with time can give you some free time to disconnect from school and sports.

Breathe
You are doing great. Breath, take a break, and keep going.
Meditate and do some yoga
This is a great way to release tension, breathe, relax and have a little break disconnecting from the world. Looking for youtube videos is a great way to incorporate this type of exercise into your daily routine.
Talk with your coach
It's totally valid if you need a break from your sport. Talk with your coach, explain how you are feeling, and he or she may help you come up with a solution that can help you feel better rested.

Eat healthy
Having a balanced diet can help you feel better physically and mentally. You should also have more energy and a better attitude if you try to eat healthier.
Hang out with friends outside of your team
Spending time with people that don't play your sport can be a great way to disconnect, think about something else and distract from what you see and hear everyday.
Call your family
Calling a family member can be a great way to feel supported, tell them how you feel and they may give you great advice. They can be a great trustworthy support system.
Look up for a specialist for help
If you feel super stressed and worried don't be afraid to ask for help. All colleges have psychologists that are there to listen and help you the best they can.
