Podcasts have been a part of my day-to-day life for about 4 years now. They have helped me get through some tough times as an international student-athlete in the United States.
The great thing about podcasts is that they can be accessed via your mobile device any day, any time you want. Content ranges from sports, fashion, fitness, lifestyle, advice, education, entertainment, and more (pretty much anything you can think of).

One of the biggest topics within the podcast world is personal development. Here is my all time favorite podcast on that subject: Optimal Living Daily (OLD) Podcast.
OLD Podcast brings you the best in personal development every single day of the week. The producer and host, Justin Malik, reads blogs, articles, and excerpts from books in:
- Personal Development
- Minimalism
- Finance
- Health
- Business
- Start-ups
- Relationships
The shows are usually 8 to 10 minutes long, so it is not a huge time commitment. I usually like listening to them while I am drinking a cup of tea in the morning or while commuting to/from school and work.
As an athlete, you could listen to them during your warm-up or a short morning run.

Podcasts are exceptionally helpful as an athlete because when you spend all of your time practicing, competing, or studying, it's hard to focus on personal development. Being an athlete gives you the skills to excel in almost any field, but not the knowledge. Listening to a self-development podcast rather than music during your morning routine or workout will get you one step ahead now, and after graduation.
